First off, Happy Birthday to my mom and sister!!
Today we ventured into the oldest town in Norway, not twenty minutes from the summer house. It has that old world charm that allows you to visualize how it has looked for centuries with the final touch of a rebuilt viking ship rowing down the canal. There were many restaurants lining the water with quaint outdoor seating and cobblestone streets! There was a poster of a pizza pie with mayo and potato chips as toppings...yumm? Last night we watched the Most Exotic Marigold Hotel and it was so cute with amazing shots of India's colors and culture, Asia might have to be my next trip! Joe's parents and brother joined us in the afternoon and we took a boat ride to the next town over for dinner. The ride was exhilarating and chilly, the perfect way to feel like your really living and experiencing instead of just observing. The water was choppy and sea-like, exactly what to expect from a fjord! We passed the kings summer home and docked in a small, timeless fishing village. Pizza for dinner (no potato chips), followed by a stroll down country lane to visit with family members who had pear and plum trees loaded with fruit in their yard that you could just pick and eat! A wonderful evening ended in watching the Amanda's, Norway's equivalent to the Oscars where they receive woman shaped awards, so apropos. Tomorrow we will head back to gallivant around Oslo once more!
